Who We Are
Who We Are
Welcome to Freedom Calvary, a Calvary Chapel ministry in Pueblo, Colorado!! It is our desire to meet and grow with you in the context of a vital Christian fellowship. And that is what we are, vitally Christian. Experiencing God through worship in Spirit and in Truth and growing in God through verse by verse Bible teaching, our vision is to exalt Jesus, equip the saints and engage the world through the life changing power of the gospel as lived and experienced in Jesus Christ.
Our fellowship is lead by Pastor Chaz Yandall as a new Calvary Chapel church plant reaching out to the Pueblo/Pueblo West area. Chaz began his ministry here 9/20/2015, having served as a missionary in the Philippines as well as an associate pastor at Horizon Christian Fellowship in San Diego, California.
We are currently meeting:
1. On Sunday mornings 9:30 am at the Pueblo YMCA
A structured children's teaching time is provided during these times also. Join Us!!
A welcome from Doug, representing the Freedom Calvary Elders
FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES...Knowing, Believing and Living
God promises He will not leave Himself without witness. In Him we can live an abundant life. He reaches out to us with and in truth. If you are searching, He can be found!
Whatever our age or station in life, the God of the Bible offers each of us a way of knowing Him that is tested, tried and true. His truth as found in the person of Jesus Christ provides salvation from sin, guidance for life and forms the basis for why a community of faith that has encountered and embraced Jesus reaches out to the society in which it lives. Without Him we are lost, with Him we live new and abundant life.
What are these foundational principles?
1. A way of knowing that is revelational.
As the apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians, our ability to figure out spiritual issues on our own is broken by sin. How then do we come to know God? We know God as He is revealed through His Word:
a. The Word of God, offered to each of us individually and personally when we arrive at the point where His Spirit calls us to an encounter with the living person and work of Jesus and as we respond to Jesus with and in faith, then repentance, prayer, service and devotion resulting in new life. One then continues to walk with Jesus daily, in strength and weakness, renewed by the Spirit, as pictured in Titus 3:5-6.
b. The word of God given from God to us as we embrace and live the truth found in the words of Scripture.
2. A way of interpreting Scripture that is historical-literal. Isaiah 55:11
As we read the words of Scripture we take them at face value, in context and genre specific. Being literal means interpreting the passage as it was meant to be interpreted.
3. A way of applying scripture that is grammatical-syntactual. Hebrews 4:12
As we determine what the words, grammar and syntax of a given Scripture passage meant, we then apply them to our situation now in order to grow deeper in relationship with Jesus and stronger in our faith walk.
Our prayer is that we live new and renewed in Christ, humbling our wisdom to His and asking for His guidance, empowering and correction through the Holy Spirit at every step of the way.
