Bid Me Come Unto Thee

After the feeding of the 5000 Jesus sends His disciples away rather hastily. Why? He sends them by boat back across the Sea of Galilee. and what happens next is one of the most well know events in the life of Jesus. He walks on the water and for a few minutes so does His beloved Peter. But there is so much going on here. There was a great wind that kept them on the lake almost all night before Jesus comes to them. Was this an unfortunate event or by design? Why does Jesus send them out into it?
